Activision announced today record sales for the new release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare with sales breaking more than $310 million in North America and the UK alone.

What does this mean for PC gamers who want to run their own dedicated servers? What of the comments of Activision wanting to sell the game for more money and insulting PC gamers? It appears as though by the record sales that Activision has won. Though there are still many people (myself included) who are still boycotting Activision, it looks as though many of us PC gamers will have to fold and purchase the new game, or come up with a new tactic to get Activision’s attention, or simply never buy the game.

Myself and many from my gaming clan will continue to hold strong boycotting all Activision titles, regardless of the number of sales. It truly is a sad day to see a gaming company care more about its sales than the people who have supported them for so long, and even sadder to see gamers who seem to care nothing for the benefit of the community.

So where does all of this leave us? Do we simply put our tails between our legs and go away? Do we fold to the corporate slime that has insulted us in such a way that cannot be forgiven. This is the typical egotistical way of corporate America, insult its supporters, and make record smashing profits. It’s enough to make a person sick.

I am interested in hearing what the community has to say about the sales and what actions (if any) will be taken.
