Assassins Creed 2 takes place in Italy in the 16th century, 300 years after the first game. The story continues with the main character Ezio Auditore di Firenze, an italian nobleman. The plot consists of Ezio’s father and two brothers being killed. After the murders Ezio vows revenge on the murderers and sets out to seek his vengeance while protecting his mother and sister.

Players will encounter many new situations and gameplay features such as swimming and the ability to purchase new weapons from merchants. Players will also be able to “drive” various small boats. Many new weapons are also present in the game such as axes, swords, daggers, halberds, and many more.

The conspiracy continues with Desmod and Lucy working to solve the mysteries of Abstergo. The game features a new Animus which will provide a database and helpful tips.

The combat system of the game has been upgraded to allow the use of various tactics on different enemies and even provides the ability to assassinate two targets at once via use of Ezio’s hidden blades.
